Audrey and David's Wedding in Brooklodge, Wicklow

I had the pleasure of capturing David and Audrey's beautiful wedding at BrookLodge Hotel in Wicklow on the 23rd of March this year. What a beautiful spot to celebrate your wedding! I had the opportunity to shoot other weddings at Brooklodge and it is a real pleasure to arrive at a venue to begin a long day's work to be greeted by the loveliest, friendliest wedding co-ordinators you could ask for. Gillian and Niamh are just brilliant and they were so helpful throughout the day. Thank you girls!
Brooklodge is a beautiful country house hotel with stunning grounds set deep in a Wicklow valley only 1 hour from Dublin. The venue also has a quaint little chapel on it's grounds which seats up to 150 people for those that wish to tie the knot on the grounds.

I visited Audrey's room in Brooklodge on this lovely sunny morning to find a buzz of activity with make-up and hairdressing in full swing. Audrey's sister, Aideen, had the pleasure of being bridesmaid for the day and wear one of the prettiest bridesmaids dresses I have ever seen. Aideen tried her best to hold back the tears as she watched her beautiful sister Audrey step into her stunning gown.
Audrey chose a very elegant vintage style for her wedding and my goodness did she look the part! A touch of old style Hollywood class! I just love the lace gloves and delicate bouquet.

A little tip for brides to be - invest in a pretty hanger to hold up your gown. It looks great in photographs. Much better than a regular hanger I think you will agree.
Window light is simply beautiful and makes all the difference to these shots. It is important for brides to decide where to get ready on the morning of their big day so wherever you are on the morning try to chose a room with good natural light and plenty of space.
Just before I left I asked Audrey to sit next to the window and shot some bridal portraits before I headed off to meet the groom in the local church. David and Audrey celebrated their wedding ceremony in the local church in Aughrim village, 5 minutes from Brooklodge.
David waits at the altar anticipating his future wife's arrival. Audrey gracefully made her way up the aisle with her proud father to be greeted by her beaming, handsome groom.

After a beautiful ceremony the newly weds were greeted back at Brooklodge with some champagne and we began our photo shoot on the surrounding grounds.

Picture perfect sisters Audrey and Aideen look like a couple of princesses in these shots. I am looking forward to shooting these lovely ladies again in September when Aideen will be the one walking down the aisle this time.
David and his best man Jack shared lots of laughs that day, especially when the videographer (also named Jack) fell into the brook as we were shooting!
Audrey and David make their way back to their reception where they are greeted by their fabulous guests to celebrate their first evening together as husband and wife.

Carla and Peter's Wedding

Carla and Peter tied the knot on the 2nd of January this year. This was my first wedding of 2012 and what a lovely way to kickstart the New Year. Carla and Peter had an intimate ceremony at Straholmog Church followed by a reception at the beautiful Bellinter House Hotel.
On the morning, I visited Carla at her mother's home in Clontarf where she was getting ready. The house was full of life and excitement to say the least.
Carla chose a fabulous 1920's vintage wedding dress to walk down the aisle in paired with a stylish fascinator and a pair of sparkling Jimmy Choos. She looked both elegant and stylish!
Meanwhile her husband-to-be, Peter, was grooming himself in the lovely bridal suite of Bellinter House before he headed off to the picturesque church.
Carla arrived to the church in a white vintage car and quickly stepped inside to the warmth and to a very happy groom awaiting her at the top of the aisle.
Following the ceremony, we all headed off to Bellinter House and I spent some time with the lovely newly weds capturing their fist moments together as husband and wife.
Shortly after the bride's family surprised the couple with a chinese lantern to mark the occassion.
Congratulations to Carla and Peter, you make a lovely couple! All the best in your future together.

A little bit of bling goes a long way on your wedding day!

A glittering embellishment on your wedding dress can work really well in your shots. I love when brides have a fantastic pair of sparkling high heel shoes, they can become a feature in some of your wedding photographs. If a girl is ever going to adorn a little bling, her wedding day is the perfect opportunity! And don't worry, bling on your big day can be done very tastefully as you can see in the shots below. So when you plan your big day maybe you should plan a little bling to match your ring!
